broadcast television is about 10 yards from the endzone of its one and only viable purpose. broadcasting live events. that's the only thing it's good for. at this stage in the game there;s no reason or need AT ALL to broadcast television shows at specific dates and times.
what should and will happen is that shows will be "released" at predetermined times/dates. Monday @ 2p CSI north dakatoa, whatever, will be available for download/viewing. that's how its going to happen.
commercials go bye bye. see once you download shows there's no need or way to view mershes anymore. and that's the only reason they still have network slots.
advertisers maybe have 2-3 yrs left before it's over for them so they better figure it out. Step one. everyone has some type of dvr. at that point EVERYONE fast forwards past the ads.
then everything's downloadable and when that happens there will be no ads. unless maybe they figure out a way to take the fast forward button off th remote. which I definitely wouldn't put past them.
